SABnzbd+ 0.5.0 Final Released
Web binaries gone wild.

SABnzbd+ 0.5.0 is here, and it doesn't disappoint. The older versions of SABnzbd+ didn't really disappoint either, but today's release ushers in a much more mature version of this open source, community driven, web based news reader.

Because SABnzbd+ is web based, it was often in a position of playing catch up with bigger players such as Grabit and alt.binz. However over time SABnzbd+ slowly added more advanced features worthy of a modern binary news reader. The latest release of this program capitalizes on nearly a year's worth of upgrades and testing, bringing many new features to SABnzbd+.

Some of the new features we like are the features you can't see - such as NZB support! Just double click your NZB files, and they'll import to SABnzbd+. This may seem like a standard option that any news reader should have, but the arrival of this feature shows both the past limitations of web programming and how far it's advanced.

SABnzbd+ generally looks the same as previous versions but there are plenty of updates throughout the program - such as expanded file-joining capabilities, HTTPS support, a new quick start wizard, and greater NZB indexing site support. SABnzbd+ previously only supported Newzbin.com, but now supports NZBMatrix and NZBs.org integration.

Slyck recommends SABnzbd+ as a complement to your other news readers. It’s a fun program to be involved with, despite some limitations when compared to Grabit or alt.binz (such as the inability to monitor individual threads). But this program works on all major operating systems and is one of the few full featured, and free, binary news readers.
