LulzSec lobs DoS Attack Against EVE Online
DoS strike...
Sometimes it's really done for just the lulz. LulzSec, or Lulz Securty, has continued its operations with impunity, this time claiming to strike against EVE Online, Mincraft, Escapist Magazine, League of Legends and FinFisher.com, a security site. The damage was minimal, but don't tell that to gamers of EVE Online, a popular space based, multiplayer, role playing game.
However, LulzSec limited their attack to a mere DoS (Denial of Service) attack. As a security precaution, EVE Online took their entire network down, which appeared to humor LulzSec.
"Silly Eve have taken their entire network offline after our very simple DDoS attack. Oh well, another day, another lulz!"
LulzSec also reportedly attacked the Minecraft login server, which incidentally took their their network down.
"Just sunk the Minecraft login server, looks like their website also got hit from overkill: http://t.co/E3QnDYm not even firing at the site," LulzSec Tweeted.
The motivation behind the attacks remains vague, with members in the #lulzsec IRC channel claiming it was all done for the lulz. However, LulzSec's attack against FinFisher.com was committed because "...they sell monitoring software to the government or some shit like that."
